About Bhakti

I am a practicing Duke Endocrinologist passionate about making healthy living a part of ones life style. I want to share my passion for healthy eating with others and I strongly believe healthy eating starts with healthy cooking. I have witnessed first hand how certain foods have the power to not only control disease but unlike medication can often reverse it and certainly prevent it at the first place. Best of all, they are free of side effects. If you have been recently diagnosed with a chronic disease or just want to start reversing impact of old unhealthy eating habits and establish healthy ones but are too overwhelmed or confused about where to begin, join me in helping you get started on this powerful, trans-formative journey.

Experience Details

Learn how to make healthy plant based meals using unprocessed plant foods as the key ingredients, Indian spices as the key flavors using the instant pot as the key cooking tool. Learn basics of instant pot cooking including how to use various settings like manual, sauté, steam, yogurt mode and when to do natural versus quick release. I will also review using Delay Start feature. 

We will use 3 Instant Pots as follows: 

  1. learn pot in pot method to cook French Lentil soup and Quinoa in the same pot. 
  2. Chana Masala. Learn how to use dried chickpeas and how to sauté ingredients without use of oil or butter. 
  3. Tofu, Asparagus, Brussels Sprouts stew. Learn how to do a quick release

In addition, we will make Hibiscus Tea and you will have opportunity to taste pre-made vegan yogurt and tofu chocolate mousse. 

You can check out all of these recipes on my Facebook page “Instantly Healthy Eating”.  This experience is a wonderful experience to make them yourself and taste them. 

 I strongly believe that knowledge is power and will discuss specific health benefits of all the ingredients as you are cooking with them under my guidance.  This is an hands on experience since I believe that is the best way to learn. Bring note pad if you wish to make notes.

At the end of the experience, you will have a strong foundation on how to effectively use the Instant Pot to create delicious, satisfying, easy and most important healthy recipes. You will leave with a clear understanding of the foods you should eat on a daily basis so you can live your best life now and for the future.  Best wishes.

This is a hands on experience. Each of you will be making the food. I will serve as your guide only.  This experience usually takes close to two and half hours

We will be standing and cooking for at first hour. Please wear comfortable clothes. I humbly request not wearing shoes in the kitchen while cooking.

We learned all about different vegetables and their impact on our health and we cooked absolutely delicious dishes using the Instant Pot.     This experience was fantastic. Even though I have already been plant based for a year, I still learned so much! Bhakti is warm, friendly and welcoming. She is passionate about health and plant based eating. This is a great experience for a novice, or experienced person. Learn the what, how, and why to eating plant based. Learn how to use many of the functions of your instant pot. Learn to make authentic Indian recipes. What’s not to love! Myself and a friend carpooled 1.5 hrs for this experience. Next level class we’re going back with 3! Highly recommend.

    Bhakti presented a lot of information about the power of food and the benefits of healthy eating.. We made 4 dishes in an instant pot (she had 3 instant pots). All were delicious, chickpeas Masala was my favorite. After cooking we ate lentils and greens, the chickpeas, tofu miso stew and pot in pot lentil and grains. The end of the meal was with tofu chocolate mousse and soy yoghurt. It was all delicious and I am not a fan of tofu or soy but this was an a real exception. I would say to definitely take notes because the handout can't cover everything she talked about. Healthy, fast and delicious meal making and you learn more about your instant pot. good food that is healthy.

    I was fortunate enough to attend a cooking class by Dr. Bhakti and I would love to attend another. All her recipes were so delicious, and she even gave us the recipes to take home. I've been Plant Based for about a year and a half but Dr. Bhakti's cooking is over to the top good! The chocolate mousse for desert will be a real hit for the holidays. Thank you again. Not only was it an informative cooking lesson, but Dr. Bhakti is fun to learn with.
