Health & Wellness, Outdoor Adventures adventure hosted by Sarah
- Duration: 12 Days total
- Language: Offered in English
Professional photographer, travel guide, and meditation teacher.
As a child, Schu dreamed of one day visiting Nepal and after her first visit in 2012, she knew she'd be back as many times as possible. Her love of Nepal and its people are half the reason she started Schu Tours. There's no place on earth like Nepal. Fair warning, you're going to want to return again and again. I'm sorry.
Beyond her love of Nepal, Schu is an avid backpacker and trekker. She enjoys sleeping in a tent more than her own bed and if she won the lottery she could easily fill five years trekking all the trails she has mapped in her mind.
Before Schutours, Sarah graduated with a photojournalism degree and worked as a freelance photographer for eight years.
In 2015, after three years of self-practice, Schu was trained for 200+ hours in yoga asana and meditation by Rishikul Yogshala in Pokhara, Nepal. Schu enjoys focusing on the mental benefits of yoga, striving to incorporate meditation and pranayama into her adventures and everyday moments for a more mindful, conscious approach to life.
Join Schu Tours for two weeks of meditation and teahouse trekking in the beautiful, unspoiled Solukhumbu district of Nepal. Bask in the sunshine during daily meditation, explore ancient villages, and visit remote monasteries along the trail as you experience the Sherpa, Magar, and Tamang cultures. Challenge yourself as you summit Pikey Peak at 4200m to see epic views of four of the highest mountains in the world including Everest. Complete the adventure of a lifetime and come home feeling renewed.
A truly unique and remote trekking experience off the beaten path in Nepal. Few trekkers venture to this region. Summit Pikey Peak and see magnificent views of Everest, Kanchenjanga, Makalu, Ama Dablam, Mera Peak, Gauri Shanker, Nambur Himal and more.
Develop a new appreciation of your body’s abilities. Fill your belly with authentic Nepali food and endless cups of tea. Disconnect from your cellphone and tap into your self for a change.
Hiring my trusted co-guide Nawa funnels money directly back into the hands of local Nepalis. Nawa hires porters from his local village to assist on our treks. A portion of each Schu Tours adventure fee is donated directly to a local cause in need. Nawa and Schu identify an area of need and purchase the necessary supplies to donate whether it's uniforms for school children or blankets for remote villages.
Experience awe-inducing moments throughout each hour of the day. Take in breathtaking views and gain a new appreciation for the high elevation landscapes. See stunning flora and fauna and enjoy some of the most inspiring sunrises and sunsets of your lifetime.
Practice guided meditation, breathing techniques, and mindfulness tools to create a deeper connection with your true self. Cultivate your meditation practice over the course of two weeks and carry it home with you after the trek.
Focus on truly living in the moment. Allow Schu to capture the highlights of your trip so you don’t have to. Working as a photojournalist and photographer for nearly a decade means Schu will have her camera at the ready to capture the epic views, looks of pure bliss, and unexpected action from the trail.
Complete a trek in a majestic land that most people only dream of visiting. Acquire tools to work on cultivating a personal mindfulness practice for your daily life from this moment forward. Realize that you are the architect of your experience.
What guest should bring
- A full packing list will be sent to you upon sign up.
Passport is necessary for this trip.
The accommodation on this trek is rustic as we’ll sleep in small lodges and teahouses each evening in local villages. Most rooms have several beds, which means you have the option of sharing your space with a travel buddy or member of the team or going it alone. Be prepared for harder beds and a shortage of hot showers. What lacks in comfort will be made up for in unforgettable experiences. Enjoy unlimited tea breaks and simple Nepali cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you’re a picky eater, no worries, there will be options for you as well.
There are 8 spots available on this experience.
You don’t have to fill all of them. Experiences are meant to be social, so others may join too.
