Classes & Worskhops adventure hosted by Julie
- Duration: 2 Hours total
- Language: Offered in English
Teaching is a passion of mine that I have welcomed into my studio working with children and adults in various classes. My Art Education degree allows me to create appropriate lessons that incorporate exploration and learning techniques. I teach hand building, private guided lessons, offer open studio, and lessons on the wheel. While creating myself and with students I love the process, the ball of clay that shows such expression when completed. Watching students find their way during class is a joy to experience, and I have witnessed the power of playing with clay. The way mood is affected by the process of creating with this malleable material. After working with clay, I feel a sense of calm and wanting more time to explore. Feelings can be shown in three dimensions with farther exploration into surfaces and colors. The possibilities are endless, and I am grateful to be able to share an experience.
Remember Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore in the movie Ghost, well forget it! No ghosting allowed, but plenty of laughing and learning will come with this pottery wheel experience! You and a friend or partner will be taking turns experiencing "throwing" clay on the wheel with some guided instruction you will create your own ceramic pieces. While your wheel partner is working hard centering and pulling on the wheel, you can help cheer them on while also having the option to do a mini handbuilding project!
If you are tired of the traditional night out, wanting to unwind with some friends, pottery is proven to relieve stress. So bring a friend or three for a few hours. Feel free to BYOB, sparkling or flat water will be provided.

I would recommend to anyone to learn how to throw clay on a potters wheel. Julie is a wonderful teacher with a great studio to learn from scratch or pickup where you left off, which for me was 37 years ago in high school. My wife and I greatly enjoyed our time with her.
