Art adventure hosted by Julie
- Duration: 2 Hours total
- Language: Offered in English
Teaching is a passion of mine that I have welcomed into my studio working with children and adults in various classes. My Art Education degree allows me to create appropriate lessons that incorporate exploration and learning techniques. I teach hand building, private guided lessons, offer open studio, and lessons on the wheel. While creating myself and with students I love the process, the ball of clay that shows such expression when completed. Watching students find their way during class is a joy to experience, and I have witnessed the power of playing with clay. The way mood is affected by the process of creating with this malleable material. After working with clay, I feel a sense of calm and wanting more time to explore. Feelings can be shown in three dimensions with farther exploration into surfaces and colors. The possibilities are endless, and I am grateful to be able to share an experience.
Clay is one of the only art disciplines where you are directly connected to the medium, sculpting and molding with your hands.
Participants will first explore the material becoming familiar with clay. A guided meditation will follow using clay as the focus.
Now for some studio time, creating a piece of art to help quiet thoughts and focus when needed. Participants will design and hand build a finger labyrinth that will continue through the firing process and be returned after it is glazed.

My studio is located on a peaceful wooded lot. You'll be able to relax while discovering your creative side working with clay. My studio has space for hand building as well as pottery wheels, which are a whole separate experience by themselves!! There are a variety of glaze choices, some of which are recipes made right in the studio. Inspiration is all around in our serene location!
There are 6 spots available on this experience.
You don’t have to fill all of them. Experiences are meant to be social, so others may join too.

My friends and I had an amazing time! Tucked away in a peaceful setting, Julie put each one of us at ease immediately. The pace and sequence of the guided meditation while physically handling the clay was both energizing and soothing at the same time. It really helped me to focus and let go. Making the finger maze was so much fun! It felt really great to get totally absorbed into it. Julie is a great teacher with zero judgement and 100% encouragement. Even when I botched my first go at it, Julie gave me a beautiful fresh second slab with a smile!! We are looking forward to going back and picking up our glazed and fired pieces.
